We collect nothing

What we collect

Nothing. ReticleKit has no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising identifiers, no accounts and no third-party SDKs. We do not know who installs the app, which crosshair you pick, or how often you play.

The App Store privacy label for ReticleKit is Data Not Collected.

What stays on your Mac

Your settings — the crosshair you picked, its colour, size and position, your saved designs, and any PNG you imported — are written to ReticleKit's own sandbox container and never leave it.

Deleting the app removes them. Nothing is synced, backed up to us, or recoverable by anyone else.

Network access

It depends on where you bought it, so both cases are set out here.

Mac App Store version: it makes no network requests at all. There is no code in it that contacts a server, and nothing to opt out of.

Bought from this site: the app contacts api.reticlekit.com exactly once, when you enter your licence key. It sends the key and a one-way SHA-256 hash of your Mac's hardware identifier — never the identifier itself, and nothing else. It gets back a signed activation token, stores it locally, and from then on checks that token offline. There is no second call, no periodic check-in and no kill switch.

That single request passes through Cloudflare, which operates the server for us and processes the connection in the ordinary course of delivering it.

The entitlement in the app bundle

For transparency, since anyone can inspect it: the app is signed with com.apple.security.network.client. In the Mac App Store build that capability is never used. It is present because ReticleKit's settings panel is rendered by WKWebView, and macOS refuses to start WebKit's helper process inside the App Sandbox without it, even for entirely local content.

Purchases

On the Mac App Store, Apple handles the payment and shares no personal or payment details with us. We could not identify a buyer even if we wanted to.

On this site, the merchant of record is Lemon Squeezy, who take the payment, charge the right VAT for your country and send your licence key and download link. Your card details go to them and never touch our systems or this website. We see your order the way any seller does: an email address, a name and a country. We use that to deliver the licence and to help you if you write in.

This website

No cookies, no tracking pixels, no advertising, and no fonts or scripts loaded from anyone else's server. Nothing here follows you around, which is why there is no cookie banner to dismiss.

We do count page views, so we know whether writing this site was worth the weekend. That runs on Umami, self-hosted on our own server in Europe and served from this domain. It stores the page you looked at, where you arrived from, and your browser, operating system and country — never an IP address, never a cookie, and never anything that identifies you or links one visit to the next. Nothing is shared with anyone. Blocking it changes nothing about the site.

Support email

If you email [email protected] we of course see your message and your address. We use it to answer you and nothing else — no mailing list, no sharing, no selling. Ask us to delete the thread and we will.

Your rights

We hold almost nothing, but under the GDPR you can still ask what we have, ask for a copy, ask us to correct it or ask us to delete it. Write to the support address and we will answer.

Children

ReticleKit is rated 4+ and collects no data from anyone, of any age.
